Interested members of the public can obtain copies of their own criminal history records and/or copies of other individuals’ criminal history records, between the hours of 8:15 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., from Mondays to Fridays, for a fee of $8 per copy. However, these records may be viewed free of charge.

Requests can also be made via mail, and mailed-in requests should include the correctly-spelled full name and date of birth of the requestor, other names used by the requestor (including maiden and former married names), and the purpose of the request. Parties that request for these records via mail are also required to notarize these requests and mail them along with a self-addressed, stamped envelope and appropriate payment in the form of a personal check, money order, cashier’s check, certified or business check made payable to the “BCA”.

It is important to note that arrest information, juvenile records, court information and convictions more than 15 years old are considered private in the state of Minnesota, and access to them is restricted. Private and public criminal history records on other individuals may only be accessed by requestors that provide an informed consent form signed by the subject named on the required record, authorizing the release of the requested record. Obtaining copies of Minnesota criminal history records that contain both private and public information costs a fee of $15 per record. Queries can be directed to (651) 793-2400.

How Do I Visit An Inmate In Benton County Jail?

Inmates are allowed a maximum of 20 minutes per visit between the hours of 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Thursdays and 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturdays. Parties under the age of 18 may be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, who must provide a birth certificate for the under-aged visitor each time they visit, and must also be listed on the inmates’ approved visitor list.
