Scott County Crime Statistics

The State of Minnesota Department of Public Safety publishes crime data for all the counties in the state. Its latest reports are for 2018. In that year, Scott County law enforcement agencies recorded 2 murders, 61 rapes, 21 robberies, and 92 aggravated assaults. The agencies also recorded 194 burglaries, 1,888 larceny thefts, 108 motor vehicle thefts, and 7 arsons.

Compared to the 2014 crime data, the figures recorded for 2018 show that there was a general increase in crime rates in Scott County. The agencies reported 2 murders compared to none in 2014. Rape (32.6%), robbery (5%), and aggravated assault (37.3%) rates went up during 2018. However, the burglary rate dropped by 35.5% that year. Also, larceny-theft and motor vehicle theft increased by 10.9% and 33.3%, respectively.

The Record Section of the Scott County Sheriff’s Office maintains all criminal history records. It also provides copies of incident/ accident reports and other police records on request. Only the parties to an accident event, the legal representative or insurance agency can obtain copies of accident reports from this section. The office charges no fee for the first three pages of incident or accident reports, while each additional page costs 25 cents. How Do I Get Scott County Sex Offender Information

The Minnesota Department of Corrections maintains a database of violent crime offenders required to register under the required state statutes. The Scott County Government Center processes requests for marriage, birth, and death certificates for the county at the customer service center. To request a copy of the marriage certificate, write a request note which must include applicants’ full names, applicants’ former names before marriage (if any), marriage date, and applicants’ return address. Each marriage certificate costs $9, payable by credit card, cash, and check written in favor of Scott County. Mail-in and in-person requests are accepted.

To obtain copies of birth or death certificate, start by completing a Birth Certificate Request Form or a Death Certificate Request Form. A copy of a valid and unexpired government-issued photo identification is required to process each application. The first copy of the birth certificate costs $26, while each additional copy requested at the same time attracts a $19 charge. The first copy of the death certificate is $13, while additional copies requested at the same time cost $6 each. Cash, credit card, and check payable to Scott County are accepted for payment.

Birth and death certificate applicants can send requests by mail or apply in person. However, all mail requests must be notarized. When requesting by mail, send a completed request form, copy of valid identification, and check payment to the Scott County Government Center at the address provided above.

The Scott County Property and Taxation Services is responsible for maintaining and updating records of all properties in a searchable online database.
