According to data compiled between 2014 and 2017, the county recorded 477 arrests. In 2017, 14 of those arrests were for violent crimes including murder and rubbery, while 120 arrests were made for property crimes. The county’s arrest rate was 204.20 per 100,000 residents which was 72.37% lower than the national average of 739.02 per 100,000 residents. According to statistics, the most common crime in the county was larceny and theft which accounts for 81 of the arrests in the year, followed by burglary and aggravated assault, which means the county has a higher rate of property crimes than violent crimes.

Where and How to Find Rice County Inmate Information
The state and local jail inmate records in Minnesota are managed by the Department of Corrections and the Rice County Sheriffs. Jails and prisons also maintain inmates’ records, they are termed public records, making them accessible to the public.

Rice County Court Records
Rice county court records are generated, stored, maintained, and disseminated by courts within the county. Court records in Minnesota however are created and stored by the Minnesota Judicial Branch of government. This provides access to court records from all counties within the state, including Rice County Courts. Rice County Vital Records
The Minnesota Department of Healthy maintains and disseminates copies and certificates of birth and death records on request. Marriages and divorces however are strictly maintained by the county vital records office or by the County Clerk’s office where the event was originally recorded. In Rice County, however, the Recorder/Registrar is in charge of all vital records. The recorder’s office creates and maintains these records in constant connection with the state office.

Where and How to Get Rice County Birth and Death Records
Birth records can be obtained from the state office by mail, fax, or online. The Inquirer may also obtain birth records and death records from the Rice County Recorder’s Office on request. According to state laws, birth records of children born to unmarried parents are confidential and not open to the public unless the mother states otherwise. Only birth records from 1935 are available at the state office. Records prior to that time can be obtained from the county where the birth took place or at the county the mother resided at the time of birth.
Death records and Certificates
Minnesota death records are also managed by the Minnesota Department of Health from the year 1997. Records prior to that time may be obtained at the county office where the subject died or resided at the time of passing.
Confidential birth records and certified birth and death records can only be accessed by People with “tangible interest”

Non-certified copies of birth and death records are for research and informational purposes only, they can’t be used for legal purposes. They are, however public records, and therefore available to the general public.
In addition to government agencies, county public records may also be obtained from third-party websites. These non-government platforms come with intuitive tools that allow for expansive searches. Record seekers may either opt to use these tools to search for a specific record or multiple records. Users are able to search third-party websites remotely for multiple records at a time with just the name of the record subject and their last known location, including the city, county, or state. Third-party sites are not sponsored by government agencies. Because of this, record availability and results may vary.
Where and How to Get Rice County Marriage Records
The Rice County Recorder’s office has only marriage records from 1856 to the present and they are only for applicants who got their marriage license in Rice County.
